Shepherd Ranch Recap...
June 21st Karina, Sydnee, Julie and I headed to Santa Ynez for the Shepherd Ranch Horse Trials. The weather couldn't have been much better and we enjoyed a fun weekend with great rides all the way around. The show began with Noah and I putting in a good dressage test (33.0), earning a 9 on our centerline! I was really pleased with his ridability, as he can be an opinionated beast =) Sydnee and Karina both put in good tests with consistent scores, placing them in the middle of their divisions. Cross country day the THF team shined, with clear round for all 3 horses and riders. Karina has now learned the importance of the count down, I think it's safe to say she'll never leave the start box early again! Noah was bold and brave, giving an impressive leap into the water complex, he jumped boldly to say the least. Karina and Sydnee both gave very nice steady x-c rides, making the Novice look like a piece of cake.
Sunday's stadium started early with the show ring starting at 7am! Noah was again brave, although too much so, we took one rail to finish in a respectable 6th place in the Open training division. Sydnee and Karina both rode really well and put in rounds that they should be proud of, I know I was!
The trip was a success. I am so pleased to see all the horses and riders putting in such consistent rides, the teamwork is fantastic, and I am looking forward to Montana! - Meg
